Waterloo Design Competition
Located in a robust surrounding context, the proposed development consists of 410 sqm retail space and 136-unit apartments designed within the approved envelope. The façades have been carefully designed with a natural material palette, in respect to the local heritage listed Green Square Public School. Vertical screens, concrete walls and landscaping create a visually interacting façade whilst responding to the character of the local area.
The public domain towards Botany Road has been addressed with enhanced pedestrian fluidity and activation, coupled with interactive public artwork to promote human engagement. It also designed to lighten the spatial quality in relation to retail frontage. The horizontal tapered architectural expression promotes a sense of movement.
The proposal is sustainable and sympathetic to design aesthetics of the context, and essentially aims to celebrate the future of Green Square Town Centre.
