Element, Crows Nest

This organic composition of 33 apartments with strong horizontal and vertical segments intertwined with undulating curved surfaces creates a unique built form in this urban context. The residential component suspends itself above a retail space spanning the entire ground floor with timber clad supporting columns creating a natural tree-trunk form. A curved feature wall draped with vertical fin louvers prominently displays the building entrance within the developing streetscape. Perforated metal screens on primary façade balconies couple as both privacy screens and sun shading devices. These sliding mechanisms introduce an imprinted art feature on the façade defining the podium and street wall.
