Nestled into the steep topography of the subject site, The Balmoral continues the uniformity of the existing low-scale street context, offering a transparent and landscaped entry to the site. It uses a continuation of the existing sandstone texture along the Upper Almora streetscape and gradually leads the visual connection to the residential lobby. A simple palette of building finishes including sandstone, zinc cladding and warm coloured paints encapsulates the building exterior to appear as an emerging built form from its natural surroundings.

The major eastern building facade is characterized by its stepped form, corner bay windows and cantilevered balconies to soften the building bulk and create a human scale.
